Aliadiere 27
Fowler 33
Baptista 40
Song 45
Baptista 45
Baptista 60
Gerrard 68
Hyppia 80
Baptista 84
What an unbelievable scoreline. Nothing worth reviewing about which other sites have not touched upon. The Beast was unleashed today contributing four goals.
The goals:
1)Nice long pass by Toure which Ali took brilliantly to score
2)After a foul by Song, Aurelio took a freekick which was palmed away by Almunia but a predatory strike by Fowler brought the scores level
3)Brilliant free kick from Baptista but Dudek could have done better other than staying rooted to the spot
4)A goal by Song which he was only partly aware of as it came of the shoulder from a Cesc pass
5)A cut back Ali found Baptista free to drill it in from 20 yards
6)Another cross by Ali found Baptista to tap in
7)Screamer by Gerrard to fan the Liverpool flames
8)Header by Hyppia to bring pressure to Arsenal
9)Another goal by the Beast following a Ali pass
Oh, and the Beast missed a penalty to cap it off. Nice effort from our young ‘uns and a pat on the back for Ali after recent criticims about him. Now, can someone please buy him? Diaby also came on for Theo on the 64th minute. Nice.
On another note : I don’t like Song and today’s performance did not convince me otherwise. Sure, it seems like I am whining over one cent when I have a million ringgit but this things must be said. He looked overconfident and gave away a stupid foul. THe bad day for Liverpool was compounded by injuries to Mark Gonzalez (Out for 3 weeks) and his replacement Garcia (Out for whole season). Onwards, boys.

Our promising forward Anthony Stokes has gone to Sunderland for £2m . After being linked to Charlton for a bit, I think this is a much better move for him. They may highlight the Irish connection but the main point is avoiding Pardew and the fact that he may not get an immediate starting place there while he has a big shot in the Championship. Speaking of our young players, we will be at Anfield again tonight featuring mostly youth players and most importantly Abou Diaby who has been out for eternity after a horrific tackle by a Sunderland player last season. I will probably be at Cafe Istimewa to catch them in action at 3.45 am. Oh and we drew Bolton in the FA cup again, this time, at the Emirates

Rosicky(37)
Rosicky(45)
Kuyt(71)
Henry(84)

A rare brace from Tomas and a individual goal from Titi gave us the edge in a match heavily dominated by the home side. Possession stats :Liverpool 62%-Arsenal 38%.
As usual, long balls were the order of the day for them and although Liverpool had much of it, they rarely made our defence work. We started as with Charlton with the only chance being Eboue in for Hoyte and Flamini in for the suspended Cesc.
Our first goal came when Alex decided to cut back to the onrushing Tomas after a counterattacking move and he clipped it wonderfully past the outstretched fingers of Dudek. Second goal came near the halfway mark courtesy of the Liverpool defence with Rosicky easily evading half hearted defending by Kuyt, Garcia, Finnan just outside the penalty box. Gerrard could have saved it but in the words of Shebby Singh
Gerrard looked at the ball at Rositski’s feet and winced, “Oh no, he’s going to shoot,Help”
and stuck out his leg two inches from standing position.
Second half started as it ended, Liverpool’s possession came to nothing until Aurelio came on for Riise and the crosses started to look a bit dangerous. Turning point has to be when Eboue fouled Garcia by a niggly challenge and then proceeded to roll on the ground himself and continued when Liverpool were taking a corner getting a yellow card in the process and flaming the home fans and the home team. He was substituted by Arsene straight away without so much of a check from our physio.
Sure enough, Liverpool scored from another corner via an unmarked Kuyt after a headed pass from Crouch. Liverpool looked threatening and started pinging corners left and right through Aurelio and Pennant. Henry put the game beyond doubt with a fortitious goal after receiving it at the halfway line; knocking it pass a Liverpool player and chased it to the touchline. Carragher seemed to have it covered but he slipped and gifted Henry with an open route to the goal.
Bad luck to Liverpool but they did not make the most of their possession. Something we are normally criticised for. Next up. League cup in Anfield

January 6, 2007 at 11:20 pm (Movie Review)

This 2006 movie set in 1990 is directed and written by Bernard Chauly; an ex-student in my secondary school(that’s what most 13-17 year olds in Malaysia go to)
8 boys, 5 days, 100km, one coming of age journey…
That’s the tagline of the show; and it sums up what this movie is based on. An expedition to fulfill the requirements of getting a King Scout qualification.
This show is close to my heart as I have gone through similar experiences as a part of 02 Kinta Troop in St. Michael’s Institution. This is for sure, going to be a biased and personal review for me and I’ll point out why.
1. All the songs in the film sung by the ‘patrol’ members are authentically either 02 or universal scout songs. Haven’t heard them in ages.
2. Catching glimpses of my beloved alma mater; from the parlour to the La Salle Centre(prom night venue) to the cobbled and shaded walkway(which was actually completed circa 1996.)
3.”Awan kumulus nimbus” , gatherings, playing in the rain, bamboo skewers, dampers, backwoodsman cooking, 02 shoulder patch, Master Timothy, Brother Vincent
4. The uncertainty surrounding a Form 5 Boy. Leaving your school and venturing into the unknown.
Disturbing discrepancy found in the movie:
Wearing a t-shirt without the scarf-definite no-no in any authentic 02 scout’s book. You’ll get rapped by Master Timothy. Not to mention that it’s the perfect shield for your neck from getting sunburned
On to the review
The cast is relatively good for first-timers. Stereotyped one dimensional characters they may be; as pointed out early in the film.
Strong,silent leader
Nerdy boy
Fat boy
Joker
Ladies Man
Stickler for the rules
Rich Boy
Idealist
From the start of the film, all the different personalities are given straight away. The part about the mother who is short on money but is worrying the son has nothing to eat on the way and provides him with some canned food and leaving some money on the sly. Typical Asian way of showing motherly love. As the guys begin their journey everything is organized. The rogues appear in the form of the Joker and the Ladies Man who take a short cut by hitching on a lorry. They reach their destination in Kampar. The 20km checkpoint and rest for a day. Stories are told, games played.
Second day and the sun is taking it’s toll again and you can see the exhaustion in most of them but they manage to reach Tanjung Tualang…..to be continued
